WWI Trio to the 13th Light Horse Regiment
All medals impressed to “854 PTE. A. LEIGH-SEWELL 13 L.H.R. A.I.F.”
Alvin Leigh-Sewell from Auburn, N.S.W., enlisted into the 2nd reinforcement for the 13th Light Horse Regiment
in Melbourne on 20/4/1915. He listed prior service with “G” Squadron, Light Horse, at Broadmeadows.
He embarked from Melbourne on 23/9/1915 (Via Sydney 26/6/1915) for the M.E. where he was T.O.S. into the 4th Div.
Cav. Reg. on 28/3/1916 Joining the B.E.F. at Marseilles, France, on 10/6/1916 he was T.O.S. into the 1st Light Horse Reg.
on 7/7/1916. Intending to return to Australia on 31/1/1918 (via Capetown 23/3/1918), he missed his ship
and consequently forfeited 28 days’ pay and given 168 hours of detention.
He then departed the next day on another ship bound for Australia. VF or better
